You Are What You Wear
Clothing is an expression of a person’s culture. As a person’s cultural level increases, clothing ceases to be a mere covering of our body worn for protection and decency. It has become an expression of our tastes and personal style. People, especially us women, care a lot about clothing because it has a bearing on our personal success. Most of us women become anxious if the dress we are wearing is a “replay”. It gives us the feeling inadequate.
Civilization has progressed to such an extent that there is accepted attire for every conceivable occassion. There is prescribed attire for the office and there is for church functions, recreation, relaxation and even sleep.
Thus, what was once a simple necessity has become an expression of vanity and endless want. Modern culture created a need for good dressing because being well-dressed produces a feeling of inward tranquility which religion is powerless to bestow.
